MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan released the following statement regarding Senator Tina Flint Smith’s support for Medicare public option:
“Senator Tina Flint Smith has made a practice out of telling just a small portion of the story when it comes to her radical stances on health care, following in the footsteps of her colleague Senator Amy Klobuchar. In a recent interview, Smith shared her support for a public option – a policy that could threaten health care for those in rural Minnesota. The last thing Minnesota families need is another far-left policy that could force 25-48 rural hospitals to close.
“After years of Minnesotans being kicked off their health care plans and being faced with drastically increased prices under Democrat policies, it is extremely concerning that Senator Smith would further risk accessibility and coverage for rural Minnesotans.”
