MN GOP Chairman David Hann on SCOTUS Ruling Against Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

Edina, MN – Today, Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman David Hann issued the following statement on The Supreme Court ruling against Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate:

“Today, The Supreme Court ruled against President Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate. This is a major victory for individual liberty, but there is still more work to be done.”

“Democrats in cities like Minneapolis and St. Paul continue to push draconian mandates that undermine our liberties and unfairly target the same workers and businesses still recovering from failed Democrat policies. The Republican Party of Minnesota will continue to work towards electing leaders who are committed to common-sense solutions for Minnesota families.”

MN GOP Chairman David Hann on The DFL’s Latest False, Partisan Attacks

Edina, MN – The Republican Party of Minnesota released the following statement on the DFL’s latest false, partisan attacks:

“The latest fantastical hyperventilation by the Democrat Party would be laughable but for the fact that they are using false and disingenuous language to accuse Republicans of encouraging violence. It is a sad example of the DFL trying to distract the public from the abject failures in governance by Democrats under President Biden in D.C. and Gov. Tim Walz here in Minnesota.

“But rather than try to out-do Democrats’ demagoguery, we remind Minnesotans that there is an election in November. The DFL excused a complete breakdown in public safety in Minnesota, bringing about a record-setting crime spree amid the radical left’s calls to ‘defund the police’. Their failure to provide the most basic function of government – public safety – is reason enough for the public to vote them out. Minnesotans want to live their lives without fear of carjackings, robberies, and shootings.

“Governor Walz’s unilateral dictates and governing via executive order resulted in the massive disruption of Minnesota families’ lives. He decimated small businesses across the state and shut down schools, doing great harm to children’s education and their futures. And Walz’ national Democrat allies pursue reckless spending policies driving up inflation, bringing economic devastation through rising prices, supply chain crises, workforce shortages and more, with no end in sight.

“Minnesota deserves better than a continuation of DFL governance that specializes in dividing citizens by creating a false ‘us vs. them’ mentality. Minnesota families should not have to worry about their children playing in their yards or attending school. Minnesota families should be confident they will be able to provide for their children and not see their budgets eaten up by government-created inflation. Minnesota families should be able to have a strong voice in their children’s education. These are the goals Republicans are committed to. We are looking toward a better future. All the Democrats have to offer is demagoguery, failed policies and extremist rhetoric.” – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman David Hann

Minnesota GOP on Today’s State Supreme Court Hearing Arguments in MVA v. Ramsey et al.

Edina, MN – Today the Minnesota Supreme Court will hear arguments in Minnesota Voters Alliance, et al. v. County of Ramsey, et al. The Republican Party of Minnesota, a co-plaintiff in this case, is working to ensure that counties are following state law with respect to the appointing of election judges and the membership of absentee ballot boards.

“This case is about ensuring that county and local governments are following the law with respect to election judges and absentee ballot boards. State law clearly provides for our major political parties – both Republicans and Democrats – to help recruit and staff election judges for polling places and absentee ballot boards. The local governments in this case chose not to follow these provisions in our state law, and we are asking the court to put a stop to that. We hope the Court will see the merits of this case and tell local governments to follow the law with respect to election administration.” – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman David Hann

The implications of the outcome of this case will affect election administration throughout Minnesota. The Minnesota Supreme Court has scheduled arguments for Jan. 4, 2022. Those interested in attending arguments in person or viewing online can access more information from the Minnesota Supreme Court’s website here.

“This case is an important step for election protection in Minnesota and I appreciate Chairman Hann’s leadership on this issue. Recruiting everyday Minnesotans to serve as election judges is vital to the system of checks and balances of our representative government. Minnesota Republicans will continue to work hard to protect the role of our fellow citizens to participate in our electoral process – and recruiting election judges will be a key piece of these efforts.” – Republican Party of Minnesota Deputy Chair Donna Bergstrom

Minnesotans interested in signing up to serve as an election judge can learn more online here at mngop.com/election-protection/.

MN GOP Statement on Schools

Edina, MN – Recent news reports show that the long-term effects of Democrat-led shutdowns are costing families hard-earned cash and holding students back academically.

According to The Star-Tribune, “…demand for tutors is skyrocketing as schools and parents seek to help students close the learning gaps that resulted from months of online- only instruction…”.

“This latest news shows the sad consequences of the shutdown policies pushed by Gov. Tim Walz and the Democrats,” Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman David Hann said. “Republicans have long said that kids needed to be in school learning. Democrats like Gov. Walz kept kids out of school to placate their political allies like teachers unions and Minnesotans suffered as a result. Our state deserves better than politicians that play petty games with our kids’ futures.”

News Background

“Now that in-person classes are back in session, demand for tutors is skyrocketing as schools and parents seek to help students close the learning gaps that resulted from months of online-only instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic.” (The Star
Tribune, Demand for K-12 tutors skyrockets as parents, schools seek extra help for struggling students, 12/19/2021)

“Democrats, school groups and teachers unions oppose…On the Senate floor, Democrats painted the measure as a political attack on Walz…”(MinnPost, Senate Republicans — and four DFLers — vote to strip Walz of power over schools amid frustration over emergency powers, 2/19/2021)

Republican Party of Minnesota Letter of Intent to Aug. 30th Meeting Organizers

The intention of this letter is to reiterate the determination made by the Republican Party of
Minnesota’s State Executive Committee on August 24th that the call issued for a meeting of the State Central Committee on Monday, August 30th is not valid.
This determination was made for the following reasons:

1. Article II, Section 2 of the Republican Party of Minnesota’s bylaws require notice to delegates of at least ten days for a State Central meeting. This would require that the call be issued by 6:00 PM on Friday, August 20th. As it turns out, the calls were clearly issued several hours after this time. Furthermore, many individuals (including an Executive Committee member) stated that they never received a meeting call.
2. Since the issuance of the call, twenty-two (of the original sixty-six) delegates calling for the meeting have rescinded their calls in writing, many claiming that they did not understand that by providing their name they were actually calling for a State Central meeting. This resulted in an insufficient number of delegates (44) calling for the meeting to reach the required threshold of 15% of the State Central delegates (50).

Despite this determination, I and several other Executive Committee members will be attending the August 30th event in Waconia. We understand that this is not an official State Central Committee meeting and that no motions will be considered to be in order at any point during this event (including for acceptance of any reports). We understand that the agenda for the event will be as follows:

1. Officer Reports (of those that are present)
2. State Executive Committee Report
3. Presentation of information of processes to prepare for the State Central Committee meeting to
be held no later than October 3, 2021
4. Question and Answer Period
5. Party Officer candidate speeches (3 minutes each)

If needed by the event organizers I am available to emcee during these agenda items.
I look forward to a productive discussion on Monday, and to the election of a new Republican Party of Minnesota Chair on October 2nd.

Thank you,

Carleton Crawford
Deputy Chair, Republican Party of Minnesota

MN GOP Statement on Minneapolis DFL Chair Devin Hogan

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan released the following statement:

“The chaos, destruction, and attacks on the Minneapolis Police Department last summer caused more harm than good in our long-term outlook to improve relationships between the community and the police.

“Mr. Hogan’s statement that burning Minneapolis’s third precinct was a “genuine revolutionary moment” and an “act of our righteousness” is further demonstration that the Democrats believe destruction is the pathway to change.

“We are not a nation founded on destruction, hate, and disregard for our laws. We are a nation founded on love, hope, inclusivity, and working together to do better.

“The MN DFL and its leaders have lost their way with their continued push to defund the police. It’s time to truly put the betterment of our state and communities first.”

MN GOP Statement on National Day of Action

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan released the following statement:

“On Saturday, July 31st the Republican Party of Minnesota will join in a National Day of Action to discuss issues, distribute our message, and engage with Minnesota voters door to door. Hundreds of volunteers will deploy from Albert Lea to Anoka – St. Louis County to Maple Grove and all across Minnesota to kick-off our 2022 election efforts.

“Over the past two election cycles, our Party has strategically invested in building out a comprehensive statewide operation, resulting in more than seven million direct voter contacts. From flipping three congressional seats from Democrat to Republican (MN-01, MN-07, MN-08) to holding our majority in the Minnesota Senate and winning back five seats in the Minnesota House, we are poised and ready to win statewide races next year.

“Electing conservative leaders that will put Minnesota’s families, children, and businesses, and the well-being of our great country first will always be a top priority for our party.
“After years of Governor Walz’s left-wing anti-Minnesota, anti-business, anti-parental rights, and abuse of emergency powers to issue hurtful arbitrary edicts, we are confident our advance work will yield results with Minnesotans of all backgrounds who will vote Republican in 2022 and put Minnesota back on the right track for the next generation.”
